We begin our ayurvedic shampoo with a thick, rich oil infusion of Ayurvedic hair care herbs.  Then we add even more of the powdered herbs directly to the shampoo bar batter, creating a nourishing shampoo.  Shikakai, referred to as the “fruit for the hair,” gently cleans hair and increases bounciness and silkiness.

• Bhringraj, considered the "king of herbs" for hair growth, adds deep moisture and acts like a multivitamin for hair to help strengthen the hair shaft. 

• Amla, an excellent hair conditioning herb, provides nourishment to the scalp to promote stronger, healthier new growth.

• The flowers and leaves of Hibiscus flowers help in the treatment of dandruff and hair loss. 

• Aritha helps create a fabulous lather.  We have also added other ayurveda ingredients that are beneficial to hair.  

• Coconut milk, widely used in India as a deep conditioning treatment for hair, imparts silkiness and shine to hair.

• Mango butter replaces moisture, adds softness, elasticity and shine to your hair.  The warm sensuous essential oil blend compliments the rich fragrance of the infused ayurvedic herbs.

Emollient rich, deeply nourishing babassu oil moisturizes, and restores hair strength and elasticity, for shiny, healthy-looking hair.   Walnut oil, an excellent hair care oil, helps condition hair.  Shea butter and avocado oil moisturize, restore luster, and conditioner the hair and scalp.   We infused the march mallow in grapeseed oil and created a mucilage, by mixing organic marsh mallow root with filtered rainwater and organic aloe.  Marsh mallow root soothes and hydrates the hair and scalp, providing relief from scalp irritation.  It also detangles and provides a great natural moisturizer for hair.  Aloe strengthens the hair shaft, makes hair smoother, silkier, and more manageable.  The essential oil blend has lovely floral and spice scent.  Ylang ylang, has a stimulating effect on the scalp which helps promote more luxurious hair.  Ylang ylang and lemon help balance the production of sebum making them good oils for all hair types.  A Chinese folk remedy recommends rubbing ginger root on the scalp to stop hair loss.  Essential oils of lemon and ginger also help restore body and shine.

We have received so many requests for an extra moisturizing shampoo—so here it is.  With double the extra oils and butters of  even our soap bars, it is a buttery lotion bar hair conditioner and shampoo combined into one super moisturizing bar.  Nourishing unrefined cocoa, shea, and mango butters make up the bulk of this recipe. There’s no denying the natural scent of unrefined cocoa butter! These butters are concentrated, protective emollients that penetrate and provide deep nourishment for the hair shaft as well as moisture and protection against dryness and brittleness.  They are particularly beneficial for processed and heat-treated hair. The addition of coconut milk adds another layer of deep conditioning and imparts silkiness and shine to your hair. The lather is rich and creamy. 

Ingredients:  Saponified oils of unrefined cocoa butter, unrefined shea butter, safflower, babassu; coconut, mango butter, and castor bean; organic coconut milk; filtered rain water; and rosemary oil extract.

Moreno is the Spanish word for  brunette.  Brunettes have been pouring fresh brewed coffee on their hair for centuries to help transform flat brown tones to into shiny, rich color and maybe even do away with some of those pesky gray strands.  Made with cloves, to enhance warm tones, and quadruple strength fresh brewed coffee, which enriches brown hues and provides astringent benefits to your scalp, this shampoo is natural way of brightening dull brown hair.  Olive oil, rich in oleic acid, promotes full-bodied hair and a healthy scalp.  Rice bran contains proteins that may help strengthen the hair shaft and prevent split ends.  It adds sheen and manageability while moisturizing and conditioning.  Emollient rich, nourishing babassu oil moisturizes and restores hair strength and elasticity, for shiny, healthy-looking hair.   Made with 20% unrefined shea butter which absorbs quickly into the scalp to provide deep nourishment for the hair shaft, as it moisturizes and softens dry, dull, or damaged hair; resulting in improved luster and manageability.   The natural oil from the coffee beans adds luster to dry hair and studies done at a university in Germany suggest that caffeine promotes hair growth.  The warm sensuous essential oil blend of clove, lavender, patchouli and ylang ylang blend nicely with a hint of coffee, promotes the natural moisture balance, and is beneficial for dry and damaged hair

Natural carrot juice, carrot oil, aloe vera, goat’s milk, nourishing oils, and raw honey are packed into in this nutritious shampoo bar.  The Beta carotene in the carrot juice and carrot oil drenches thirsty hair with vitamin A to help revitalize hair shafts.  Carrot root oil conditions the hair and helps balance the moisture.  Honey helps to moisturize and revitalize hair.  Goat milk penetrates the hair shaft, replenishes moisture, nourishes the scalp, and adds life, luster and body to hair.  Aloe makes hair feel smoother, silkier, and healthier.  There are some that believe that aloe may help promote hair growth. This sudsy shampoo bar contains chamomile, which is gentle on the scalp as it soothes itchiness.  The chamomile tea, chamomile infused olive oil and citrus essential oils make this shampoo bar especially good for bringing out the highlights in blonde hair.  Chamomile is one of the most beneficial herbs for hair.  It adds highlights to fair hair and a sheen to dark hair as it conditions and softens. It is also great for oily hair since citrus essential oils are an astringent.  The citrus oils help reduce the oils on your scalp without over-drying your scalp.  Ancient Egyptians used citrus juice to clean their hair and scalps. The acid cut the oil and sealed the cuticle to leave hair shiny and smelling fresh.  Using commercial oily hair shampoo often strips the hair and scalp of it's natural oils.  The result is a dry scalp that reacts by producing more oil resulting in --oily hair and scalp.  This over drying is exactly what is creating the oily hair problem.   Our blend of exotic butters and oils will moisturize your hair and leave it healthy and shiny. This shampoo bar has a yummy fresh citrus scent.

Many of our customers have asked us to create "regular" shampoo bar recipe with no added scent.   We’ve added a double dose of moisturizing organic coconut milk and extra vitamin E oil, rich in antioxidants.  Coconut milk, often used as a deep conditioning treatment for hair, imparts silkiness and shine to your hair.  It is widely used in spas in India to soothe dry skin and scalps.  Woman in India often use coconut milk to help prevent hair loss.  Sweet almond oil helps revitalize the scalp while it conditions, nourishes, softens, and adds sheen to hair. 

Ingredients: Saponified oils of sweet almond, organic coconut, sunflower, rice bran, palm kernel, castor bean, jojoba, palm, and expeller pressed canola; organic coconut milk; and filtered rainwater.

A customer who dabbles in herbs was doing research on herbs and essentials oils for hair care.  She requested the ingredients in this shampoo bar specifically for a holistic approach to scalp stimulation and potential hair loss retardation.  We infuse oils with nettles, rosemary, chamomile, sage, green tea, parsley, comfrey leaves, and comfrey root; and used an herbal tea made with the same herbs.  The essential oil blend of rosemary, lavender, cedarwood, sage, thyme, and black pepper, was created to stimulate the scalp and creates a nice herbal scent.   Each herb and essential oil enhances our already luxurious hair care formula.  For example, nettles, an excellent hair conditioner, have a reputation for preventing hair loss and making hair soft and shiny; and rosemary essential oil is believed to encourage strong, healthy hair, stimulate growth, and increase manageability.  Please read more about the use of these essential oils and herbs, in hair care, on our ingredients page.   Added Shea Butter helps condition and smooth the hair shaft and aloe makes hair more manageable, smoother, silkier, and healthier.  There are some who believe that aloe may help promote hair growth.

Beer and egg yolk create a mild, protein rich shampoo that adds shine, bounce and body to your hair. The well-known conditioning properties of beer and egg add to the cocoa butter to provide a moisturizing shampoo bar.    Customers have commented that the Honey Beer & Egg Shampoo adds body to their hair.  Honey, nature’s own healer, hydrates and soothes your hair and scalp.  Jojoba oil penetrates the scalp providing moisture without an oily feeling.  This shampoo bar does not smell like beer!  The honey and the hops in the beer give this bar a nice clean smell with a hint of sweetness.  This protein rich shampoo bar has lots of rich, creamy, bubbly lather.

One of our customers, who regularly uses a honey rinse after shampooing, asked if we could make a shampoo bar with lots and lots of honey.  So we used our Honey Beer & Egg shampoo recipe, more than doubled the honey and used a bit less egg.  Our testers love it.  Even some who have hair that does not normally like the Honey Beer and Egg shampoo, are raving about the softness, body, and shine.
